Plot: In Bolivia's Amazon basin, industrial cattle ranches are displacing rain forests. When Santos, the charismatic leader of the rubber tappers' union, formed an alliance with Indians to resist deforestation, he was slain. O'Brien, a US photojournalist with limited investigative abilities, seeks a story when he believes the cops framed and murdered an innocent Indian as the assassin. In his pursuit of the truth, he meets Lysa Rothman, who worked for Santos and with whom he falls in love. As he goes deeper into difficulty with the cops and the true assassin, he requires not just Lysa's assistance, but also that of the Indians' commander. How many people will die so that O'Brien can get his story?
