Plot: The two live in contented isolation at the huge residence as though there is nobody else in the global till, in 1949, she becomes engaged to a brutish man named chet rudolph. Pushed over the edge with jealousy and chet's abuse (which norma encourages), norman kills each of them via serving them poisoned iced tea. He then steals and preserves his mom's corpse. He develops a cut up character in which he "will become" his mother to suppress the guilt of murdering her; each time this personality takes over, it drives him to dress in his mother's garments, put on a wig, and talk to himself in her voice. As "mother", he murders nearby ladies who attempt to seduce him during their stay at his newly opened inn.
